Calculating Eligibility

High School


Did you attend or do you currently attend a high school in California?
Your high school must be recognized by the California State Board of Education. If you don't know, check with your counselor to find out.

Adult School

Adult school offers free or low-cost classes for adults 18 years old and older. It's a great way for students to gain the skills and knowledge they need to get their high school diploma or GED, learn English, or even take the classes necessary to attend college in California.


Did you attend an adult school in California?
Your adult school must be accredited by the County Office of Education, Unified School District, High School District or the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. If you don't know, check with your counselor to find out.

Community College

If you have taken community college as a high school student as part of concurrent or dual enrollment, talk to your school counselor prior to answering these questions.


Are you currently taking or have you ever taken courses at a California community college?
Credit courses at California public colleges and universities are counted in semester or quarter units. They are considered degree or non-degree applicable. Visit our Glossary of Terms. to learn more. Non-credit courses serve professional, personal, or recreational needs. They're intended for students who want to gain new knowledge, learn or strengthen a skill, or develop their understanding on different topics. Non-credit courses are traditionally counted in classroom hours. They CANNOT be used towards a degree, but may be used to meet requirements for a vocational certificate.
