Instructions:
The In-State Tuition Tool (ISTT) will help you learn more about your eligibility for in-state tuition (AB 540) in California.
You will be asked questions about:
- Your immigration status.
- The high school(s), adult school(s), and/or community college(s) (non-credit and credit courses) in California that you attended or are currently attending.
- Any degree(s) you have earned or are working towards in California.
Need help in completing the ISTT?
- Use your unofficial academic transcripts or attendance records from your California high school(s), adult school(s), and/or community college(s) to calculate your attendance. See Calculating Your Eligibility Guide to learn more.
- Keep the Glossary of Terms handy to get definitions for terms used in the ISTT, including specific immigration statuses.
- Ask a trusted counselor or your college's UndocuLiaison or Dream Resource Center/Undocumented Student Program staff to help you answer any questions you don't understand.
Once you meet the eligibility for in-state (AB 540) in California, you'll save money on tuition at public colleges and universities, as well as apply for state-based financial aid through the CA Dream Act.
